A MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR

H.E. Governor Martyn Roper

As Governor of these beautiful Cayman Islands, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our friendly shores. In Cayman, we coined a word that perfectly describes our hospitality — and our people. It’s called “Caymankind,” and I can assure you that you will experience it at every turn and around every corner.

While small in size, our Islands are overflowing with enjoyable activities to make for a visit that will I am sure surpass your every expectation. Our watersports, from an easy snorkel off Seven Mile Beach to Scuba diving at our dozens of designated sites, are world renowned — and rightly so. Cayman’s turquoise waters are crystal clear, safe, and home to some of the most exotic and colorful fish and coral to be found anywhere.

If your passion is fine dining, you will be in for a treat. Grand Cayman is home to hundreds of fine restaurants that serve up every conceivable international cuisine. The island is deservedly known as “the culinary capital of the Caribbean.”

During your stay, I would encourage you to visit each of the five districts that comprise Grand Cayman. George Town, our capital district, is home to the offices of government, the courts, businesses, banks, and world-class shopping — much of it duty-free. What we call the “outer districts” (to the west or to the east of George Town) offer a look at Cayman’s past, historic sites, and island culture.

The “Sister Islands” of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, located 80 miles northeast of Grand Cayman, are welcoming and charming. They are a proven antidote to the stress and anxiety of modern-day life. Short flights, aboard our national carrier Cayman Airways, depart daily, so day-trips are feasible.

As Governor of the Cayman Islands, appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, I have been very impressed with so much about the Islands, and I am sure you will be, too.

However you plan to spend your time, all of us in Cayman are delighted that you have chosen to spend it with us. Please come back to visit us often.

Best wishes,

Martyn Roper
Governor
The Cayman Islands
